Artist of the Week #1 Empty Artist of the Week #1

This is something i've wanted to do for awhile now. Every monday i'll start a new topic with a musical artist from any genre and any time frame. I'll give background information on the band and the members. Every day i'll post one of their songs in the topic. This is a chance for people to maybe find some new artists they like or discuss about an artist they already love. But i ask u not to post videos in these topics.

Week 1 will be Breaking Benjamin

Breaking Benjamin is a 4 man band formed in 1998 in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania. The band was first called Plan 9 until lead singer Benjamin Burnley changed the name after a show saying to the crowd "Thank you we are breaking benjamin". They currently have 4 albums, Saturate (2002), We Are Not Alone (2004), Phobia (2006) and Dear Agony (2009) also a greatest hits album. As of 2013 all founding members have left the group although Burnley has said he'll carry on with the band name with new members. Their style has been described as Alternative rock/metal or post grunge.

I feel it's only right to start this off with a hit song from their first album Saturate. The song name is Polyamorus. After this song first played on the radio it got the attention of Hollywood Records who signed Breaking Benjamin the following year. Polyamorus reached 31 on US Alternative Songs chart and 19 on US Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. While Saturate managed to crack the Billboard top 200 at 136.

The second song will be Firefly. Firefly although not a single is well known through uses in videogames and some radio time. Firefly is on their second album We Are Not Alone. In it's first week We Are Not Alone was certified platinum.

The 3rd song will be the second single off the We Are Not Alone album, "Sooner or Later'. Sooner or Later reached #2 on Mainstream Rock chart and #99 on Hot 100. It is one of the more known Breaking Benjamin receiving a fair amount of radio time

I fell a day behind so here are 2 videos. The first one is Diary of Jane which is Breaking Benjamin's most popular song. It is the first single from their 3rd album Phobia, which is my personal favorite album by them. It reached #50 on the billboard top 100 and #2 on the mainstream rock charts. The second song is Breath. Breath is the second single off of Phobia and Breaking Benjamin's 4th straight top 100 single reaching #84. It also was Breaking Benjamin's first #1 song reaching #1 on US Mainstream Rock Chart and stayed #1 for 7 weeks. Breath also happens to be my favorite song by Breaking Benjamin.

This is the final video of breaking benjamin. The song is "I will not bow" and is off their 4th studio album Dear Agony. Dear Agony debuted at #4 on Billboard's 200 chart. As of Feburary 2010 Dear Agony was certified gold selling roughly 700,000 albums. "I will not bow" debuted at #40 on billboard's hot 100. It was rated #1 rock song of 2009.
